Bernard Eaton dies

Indepths is sorry to hear of the death of British diving icon Bernard Eaton. Bernard (86) was the head of the Diver magazine and dive show empire which has dominated the UK diving market almost since the start of recreational scuba diving in the UK.

Bernard played a huge role in the setting up of the Marine Conservation Society and steered the direction of the two main dive shows in the UK as well as playing big roles in iconic projects such as the survey of the Marine Rose.

In recognition of his endeavours for the diving industry, he was an inaugural inductee into the International Scuba Diving Hall Of Fame in 2000.

He will be sadly missed.
